The spring rains often make the sandhill region of Nebraska a verdant green. It is one of my favorite times to become lost in the sea of grass in the central part of the state. On this beautiful morning I wandered out to North Marsh Lake in the Valentine National Wildlife Refuge and waited as the sun rose on the distant horizon illuminating the clouds in pastel pinks, oranges, and purples.
